Nails of New York: Diane Lin
We love calling Crosby Street home. We're surrounded by amazing shops and brands in our favorite neighborhood in the city. One of the best Crosby Street openings this year was the Rachel Comey flagship boutique a few blocks north of us. Store Manager Diane Lin comes to us for sparkly manicures (seriously, this girl can't help herself) and we head to Rachel Comey for great clothes and killer shoes. Let's just say it's a win-win.
Diane invited us to the shop one morning before opening to talk nails and to browse the latest collection of clothing and shoes at the store. And if it's wrong to match your glittery manicure to your sparkly shoes, then we don't want to be right.

Why do you paint your nails?
Because it's fun! It's also a very subtle yet direct way to communicate how I am feeling. And it's one of the best ways to treat yourself. You feel very much put together and a great manicure offers motivation to present yourself at your best.
Do you have a favorite polish color or go-to look when getting a manicure?
It usually does involve a variation of glitter and/or pink! I wear a lot of either all-denim or all-white outfits, and pink complements both of those so well. And glitter just goes with everything but is also wild and fun. I love to indulge in something wild!
Arranging jewelry—Diane wears a vintage ring from her own collection (index finger) and a ring by Quarry, one of our favorite jewelry designers.
Where do you find your inspiration?
The bright colors in nature and everyday objects. Sunsets, dead flowers, to the shadows and lines of buildings—all the inanimate always feel so animated. The Rachel Comey store is also a very inspirational environment to work in. The natural light coming through the skylights, the varying textures and shapes of the interiors, the beautiful clothing and shoes, are all very inspiring to be around. Lastly, good, thoughtful people are the most inspiring. From customers, to colleagues, to my friends and family—I'm very lucky to be around these kind of people everyday especially in such a profound environment as New York City. Through that good energy comes inspiration to do what you love and to do it well.
