New and Now: The Uptown Collection
Since November 2019, we've cultivated a community off Madison Avenue that we're thrilled to call home. Moving in our lovely, two-story treasure, our uptown studio has far exceeded our expectations, especially the welcome from our kind neighbors.
Our latest launch, The Uptown Collection, celebrates our community. Collaborating with ten brands we love, we're launching core Paintbox designs that Creative Director Mabelyn Martin (painted on the nails by artist Rachel Joseph) customized to best reflect the brand identities of our closest neighbors.
La Ligne: Founded by former Vogue editors Valerie Macaulay and Meredith Melling, as well as Molly Howard (Rag + Bone's former head of business development), La Ligne believes in the universal appeal of the stripe–always classic, forever chic. Mabelyn brought this linear ethos to life with a nautical palette of navy and our cherry-red Like Desire polish.
Moda Operandi: Co-founded by former Vogue editor Lauren Santo Domingo in 2010, Moda Operandi is our go-to site to discover incredible, emerging designers, as well as uptown classics like Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera. For this nail design, we painted our pale peachy-pink shade Like Blush as the base and then added a double swoop at the fingertips with tonal magenta and lilac.
Sarah Hoover: An art dealer and artist liaison at Gagosian (as well as one of our favorite follows on Instagram!), Sarah is known for her colorful and vibrant personal style choices. From her kitschy jewelry to her love of sparkles, we're always inspired by her fun approach to self-expression. For this nail design, Mabelyn created a sparkly silver crescent moon with our Like Future polish atop our pale lilac Like Dreams lacquer as a base.
Editorialist: Perfectly curated and always inspiring, Editorialist is our source for right-now trends and news in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. For this manicure design, we went minimal with a simple angular bisection of white and our classic neutral Like Mystery polish.
The Mark Hotel: Located on Madison Avenue at 77th Street, The Mark is the ultimate luxury experience in hospitality. An elegant retreat designed by Jacques Grange, the classic-but-modern hotel is our number one spot for dinner and drinks. For this nail design, Mabelyn was inspired by the black and white art deco motif of the lobby and logo.
Veronica Beard: The sisters-in-law duo have built a fashion empire that is inclusive of all women, and we love their motto–look good, feel good, and do what you love. For the Veronica Beard nail, Mabelyn dreamt up a classic V shape on the nails in a tonal shade range of our Like Blush pale peachy-pink and our cherry-red Like Desire polishes.
Carolina Herrera: The epitome of elegance, romance, and sophistication, Carolina Herrera makes vivid colorways and bright silhouettes come to life in a modern way, thanks to creative director Wes Gordon's exciting vision. Inspired by a sheer black dress with abstract white polka dots, lead artist Chasity Torres dreamt up this impactful manicure.
Lingua Franca: Founded by Rachelle Hruska, Lingua Franca started with a stitch (literally), and the creative brand has quickly expanded, thanks to its luxury cashmere sweaters, all hand-stitched by women in NYC. We love how the brand finds humor and joy in their styles, and Mabelyn reflected the stitching in a cursive nail using our poppy red Like Desire as a base and our soft blue Like Wonder shade to allude to the embroidered writing.
Marie Chantal: Founded in 2000 by Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, Marie-Chantal is the pinnacle in luxury for timeless baby and children's clothing and accessories. From ultra-soft fabrics to beautiful styles (we're obsessed with her signature Angel Wings), Marie-Chantal exudes always-classic comfort, so we created a simple-but-sweet, modern moon swoop with our Like Blush lacquer color.
AKT: Created by celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser, AKT is a dance-based, cardio fitness studio on 84th Street that fuels positivity and community via movement. For this nail design, Mabelyn created dynamic double curves atop negative space with black and silver chrome foils.
